Shahapur, A farmer committed suicide by consuming poison at Karkalli village in the taluk on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Madiwalappa Siddanna Aski (25). He was living in a joint family in the village and the family owned seven acres of agriculture land. 

The family members claimed that he was disgusted over the increasing debt burden on the family due to the failure of tur and cotton crops. A case has been registered at Gogi Police Station.
