The Government of India issued an advisory on Thursday saying that no scheduled international commercial passenger flights shall be allowed to land in India from 22 March for one week.

MEA advises infected Indians abroad to ‘stay where they are

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said that the Indians who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus abroad should “stay where they are” if they are not at the epicentre. The statement is reportedly in the context of the infected Indians stuck in Iran.

“Indians who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran are in proper medical care and recovering,” the MEA said, adding, “The primary advice to all Indians abroad is to stay put where they are. We have evacuated 590 people from Iran where the situation is very severe. Indians infected with coronavirus in Iran have been segregated and taken care of very well. We believe they will recover and we will bring them back.”

 MEA says Indians in Italy to be evacuated over weekend

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar, in the weekly press briefing said that India is planning to evacuate its nationals from Italy over the coming weekend. “Further details are being worked out with the civil aviation ministry,” the MEA said.
