Brothers beheaded over old rivalry

Kalaburagi, Rivalry over obtaining the leadership of the community and property dispute ended in beheading of two brothers near Monatagi cross 
at Angalagi village of
Jewargi taluk on Saturday night.

According to police, the deceased have been identified as Yallalinga Taragonda (41) and Gangappa Taragonda (35), both residents of Angalagi village.

Superintendent of Police Iada Martin Marbanyang said, the prime accused in the murder and the victims were relatives. Police have arrested Bhutale Havanna Karagonda, Gangappa Karagonda, Mallappa Sharanappa, Mallappa Havanna Karagonda and Bhagavantraya Karangonda. The other seven accused are absconding, he said. Bhutale and Yallalinga used to have frequent quarrels over the land dispute. They had also fought over the leadership of their community.

The elders of the village had pacified them several times.

On Saturday night, they picked up a quarrel again over the same issue. Bhutale reportedly beheaded Yallalinga with a sickle and an axe. Gangappa, who came to the rescue of his brother, was also chased and beheaded, police said.

A case has been registered at Nelogi Police Station.
