The district administration and the residents of the City are heaving a sigh of relief with more number of patients being tested negative for Covid-19.
Out of 36 blood and throat swab samples sent for the
laboratory, 24 samples confirmed negative for the dreaded virus.
While positive cases stood at three, results of seven patients are awaited and two samples have not been tested due to technical reasons, said a health bulletin released by the district administration.
The number of people being quarantined at home is on the rise with 876 people being home-quarantined against 811 people on Saturday. The number of foreign returnees has also gone up to 408 from 337 on Saturday.
Total number of primary contacts exposed to the country’s first Covid 19 victim has seen a slight increase to 99 from 98.
The number of suspected patients being isolated in the hospital is on a downward trend. Only six people have been isolated at the hospital on Monday. The authorities carried out the survey of 7,722 houses till date in the two containment zones declared in the City. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner B Sharat has on Sunday extended the prohibitory orders clamped under Section 144 of CrPC in the City till March 25 to contain the further spread of Covid-19. The DC had earlier imposed the prohibitory orders till March 23.
The people who remained indoors on Sunday ventured out of their houses on Monday to buy the essential commodities despite the prohibitory orders being in force. The residents were also seen in groups in some locations of the City. The lockdown continued on Monday with all business establishments being remained shut.
Essential services like hospitals, medical shops, grocery shops among others functioned normally.
Vehicular movement on roads was less. In some locations, through loudspeakers, the police were seen forcing the shopkeepers to down shutters saying the prohibitory orders are in force.
Deputy Commissioner B Sharat has issued a revised order banning the sale, manufacture or transport of liquor in the district until the further orders. The DC has also ordered for the closure of bar and restaurants.
He had earlier issued an order banning the sale of liquor and for the closure of bar and restaurants from the mid-night of March 15.
