Police cordon off Old City area Lockdown norms tightened in Bidar to contain spread of Covid-19

Police have cordoned off Old City area in Bidar following the confirmation of 11 people who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event held in Delhi tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

All the entries into Old City have been closed with barricades. People have been warned against coming out of their homes. Loudspeakers were being used to alert the people in the locality. Documents were being verified before allowing any person to go into Old City or leave anyone out. The people who go out to bring fodder for cattle were being allowed to go out. 

The police who delved into action from early morning itself did not even allow the morning walkers to come to the streets. They appealed the people to exercise in the backyard or on the terrace. All the shops, business establishments were shut down while some medical shops were opened after 11 am. Even the grocery and vegetable shops were closed.

The district administration has appointed two nodal officers for the effective implementation of the lockdown guidelines.

They have been reporting to the deputy commissioner regularly and updating the situation. Deputy Commissioner H R Mahadeva and Superintendent of Police D L Nagesh have been visiting various places in the City and inspecting the situation.

Police restricted the entry of people at Karnataka-Telangana border near Shahapur in the district. The people who had the identity cards of the State were allowed to enter the district.
