MP tells officials to identify alternative water sources

Kalaburagi, MP Umesh Jadhav has instructed the Karnataka Urban Water Supply & Drainage Board officials to list out all the alternative sources of water to permanently address the water woes in the district.

Speaking at a meeting of Mahanagar Palike and Water Board officials here, the MP said, other than Bhima and Bennetora rivers, the water sources should be identified and a list should be kept ready. However, the water problem would not be severe this summer.

But in future, the scarcity might occur. Therefore, the officials should be prepared to face the situation, he added.

He said, the Central government has taken the initiative of rejuvenating the water sources across the country. Jal Shakti Ministry was formed for this purpose, he added.

The MP said, the complete project report of the 24/7 water supply in Kalaburagi City should be submitted. Efforts would be made to implement the project to facilitate the residents, he added.

MLA Dattatreya Patil Revoor said, the summer and Ramzan month observation began in the district. The people cannot come out of the houses due to lockdown. Drinking water should be ensured in every ward. Sufficient water should be supplied to all the wards, he added.

He said, the overhead tank was constructed at Godutayi Nagar. The pipeline should be installed immediately and water supply should be taken up from this tank, he added.

Water Board Executive Engineer Yunis Basha, Palike Commissioner Rahul Pandve, Palike Environment Engineer Munaf Patel, Assistant Executive Engineer Sunil Vante and others attended the meeting.
