‘Prepare DPR to desilt, beautify Bhosga tank’
Urban Development Minister B A Basavaraj directed Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority Commissioner to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to de-silt and beautify Bhosga tank which was the main water source for the City earlier.
Speaking at the review meeting of Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority here on Monday, he stated that water from Bhosga tank can be utilised in case of any problem in the supply of water to the City from Bennetora and Bhima rivers. Hence, the DPR should be prepared in the 15 days and submitted to the government. Water from the tank spreading over 470 acres will have to be utilised as an alternative source. Khaja Kotanur tank spreading over 800 acres should also be developed. First priority should be accorded to the drinking water, the minister directed.
Taking up the developmental works is impossible without income. Steps should be taken to ensure the speedy disposal of the cases pending before the courts with regard to various issues including Atal Bihari Vajpayee Layout. Steps should be taken to auction about 1,305 sites, he directed.
Expressing displeasure over not utilising a Kalyana Mantap built at Dhariyapur-Kotanur and a City Bus Stand built by KUDA, he opined that the authority gets revenue if they were utilised. As per the report to be given by three-member officers’ team, the KUDA should take steps to pay a due of Rs 6.5 crore to Karnataka Urban Water Supply Board which took up drinking water workers at Atal Bihar Vajpayee and Dhariyapur-Kotanur and Madarasanahalli Layouts developed by the KUDA, he advised.

Approval has been given to Rs 838-crore project that will supply water 24×7 to the City. The project has been taken up with the financial assistance from World Bank. The work will begin soon, said Minister B A Basavaraj.
