12 more Covid-19 positive cases in Karnataka, total touches 175

BENGALURU: Twelve fresh cases of Covid-19 were reported in Karnataka on Tuesday morning taking the total count to 175.
Four of the new patients had taken part in the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi on March. Four others were contacts of
Tablighi Jamaat delegates who had tested positive earlier. Three of the new patients are women. While there were four new cases from Bengaluru, three were from Mandya, two each
from Bagalkot and Kalaburagi and one from Gadag. The Gadag and Mandya cases were the first to be reported from the
districts.
Three of the Bengaluru patients, aged 29, 50 and 35 years, had participated in Tablighi Jamaat congregation between March
13-18. They have been put under isolation at a designated hospital in Bengaluru. The fourth Bengalurean to test positive is a
68-year-old-man Dubai returnee.
In Mandya, three men, aged 32, 36 and 65 years, have tested positive. They were contacts of the five Tablighi Jamaat
participants who had tested positive earlier in Mysuru.
A 33-year-old Tablighi Jamaat delegate from Mudhol in Bagalkot district is among the new patients.
A 41-year-old woman from Bagalkot, neighbour of a 78-year-old man who died after testing positive for Covid-19 on April 3, is
the other patient from the district. In Kalaburagi, a 28-year-old-woman, daughter-in-law of a positive patient, has tested positive. The woman’s mother-in-law was a primary contact of a Tablighi Jamaat delegate. Two severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) patients –- one an 80-year-old woman suffering from Gadag and another a 57- year-old man from Kalaburagi –- have also tested positive.
