Precautionary measures are taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19: DC Yadgir enters the list of ‘Covid-19 hit districts’ in State on Tuesday
The district administration is in the process of tracing primary and secondary contacts of two Covid-19 positive patients of the district. People of the district should not panic as all precautionary measures have been taken to check the spread of the virus, appealed Deputy Commissioner M Kurma Rao.
The district had been in green zone hitherto. The couple who had returned from Ahmedabad in Gujarat State tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Three people including the couple had been to Ahmedabad in March and they stayed back in their relative’s house after the nationwide lockdown was enforced on March 23 to contain the spread of Covid-19.
They came in a truck to Hungund of Bagalkote district on May 9, from where they travelled back to some places in Surpur in a car.
After the health check-up of the three people and the car driver, they were isolated after taking their throat swab samples.
The samples were sent for testing in Kalaburagi. While the results of the couple came back positive for the infection and the other two found negative, he explained.
Co-operate with dist admin
Kurma Rao said, migrant workers who came back to the district have been kept under a 14-day institutional quarantine keeping in mind the public health and to stem the spread of Covid-19.
The migrants who travelled back to the district should not directly go to their homes. If they had gone, they should co-operate with the district administration in its effort to make the district Covid-19 free, he appealed.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner has issued an order imposing the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in the district from Monday midnight till Tuesday midnight.
Stern action will be taken against the proprietors of the business establishments, if they fail to transact business by maintaining the social distance, he warned a press release.
Except for hospital, medical stores, and other essential services, all the business establishments were asked to down the shutters.
All major roads of the district have been closed by erecting the barricades. The public has been warned to remain indoors.
Containment zone declared
Asar Mohalla of Surpur town in the district has been declared as containment zone by the district administration after two people reported positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. The residents have been directed to stay indoors.
