Covid patients, docs, paramedics to get boiled egg, dry fruits along with meals
KALABURAGI, Covid-19 patients, their primary contacts and doctors, nurses, para-medical staff and ward boys in hospitals will now onwards get boiled eggs, unskimmed milk and dry fruits along with meals to boost their immune system.
Regional Commissioner N V Prasad who visited the hostel run by Social Welfare Department, where food is being prepared to the Covid-19 patients and doctors, directed Deputy Commissioner B Sharat to change menu immediately. The deputy commissioner, in turn, ordered the district Backward Classes & Minority (BCM) Officer Ramesh Sanga to take steps in this regard.
Boiled eggs should be compulsorily served along with morning tiffin. Anyone of the following-Upama, pulao, pongal, colour rice, tomato bath and puri – should be served every morning. For lunch, jowar roti, rice, cereals and vegetable sagu, sambar, fruits like banana, pomegranate, apple, pineapple, grapes or others (any one of them), spicy buttermilk should be served along with boiled egg, the RC directed. For dinner, two chapati, vegetable sagu, sambar, one glass of unskimmed milk and dry fruits should be provided. Food for Covid-19 patients, their primary contacts and medical staff was hitherto being served from the canteen located in GIMS. Now, the food is being prepared at hostels under the supervision of the BCM officers.
Health & Family Welfare Minister B Sriramulu who holds the additional charge of Backward Classes & Minority Department, has directed to prepare food by using the cooks working in the hostels run by BCM to provide quality and nutritious food to the patients and the doctors and medical staff who are attending on the patients.
Backward Classes & Minority Department Secretary Mohammed Mohsin has taken keen interest in it and directed to make food arrangement from the BCM Department. The department will purchase foodgrains and vegetables. Money from deputy commissioner’s Disaster Relief Fund will be utilised for purchasing fruits and dry fruits, said a reliable source.
