KALABURAGI, Urban Development Minister B A Basavaraj on Monday clarified that there is no question of rolling back the decision on increase in property tax but date for paying the same can be extended.

Speaking at a press meet here, he said property tax has been hiked as it will be revised once in three years.

The people are in distress owing to the lockdown enforced to check the spread of Covid-19. And hence, a demand is growing for dropping the revision of property tax and tax collection.

Taking up developmental works of the local bodies including Municipal Corporation depends upon the amount collected in the form of tax.

Hence, date for paying property tax has been extended for three months. If the need arises, it will be extended further for two months, he said.
